Now entering its third successful year this Nationwide initiative has brought together twenty of the countries' young and aspiring golfers , training and preparing them for a possible future in the golfing arena.
With a history of producing and nurturing golfing talent in the region for over a decade it was no surprise that Maybank chose the JNG Golf Academy to partner them in this project.
Maybank's vision for the Champions Academy was to create something innovative and new whereby the participents required no prior golfing experience to earn their selection.JNG developed a selection process based on the key factors with regards to the strength, cordinatinion, agility and mental attitude that is reqiured to become an elite athelete and with the help of Global One (Maybank strategic partner) travelled from North to South to bring the Academy squad together.
All Academy students receive custom fitted golf equipment from JNG Golf to aid their development and three one week camps annually at The Saujana Golf and Country Club funded by Maybank. Under the watchful eye of JNG Master Coach Tony Maloney and other JNG Head Proferssionals the children are being geared to perform at the highest level by working on all aspects of their golf game as well as being given a sound understanding of their performance with regards to fitness, nutrition and mental strength.
With the support of Maybank the Champion Academy students are competing and excelling in National events with the next step being to expose them to the International arena in the hope that they one day have the chance to represent Malaysia and fulfil their potential.
